DescriptionLetter, dated 27 April, in which Chamberlain, 11 Downing Street [London], remembers staying together with Barling (1855-1940) at Chesthill, including embarrassing occasions when they burst in on the recently engaged Arch[ibald] Kenrick and Grace Nettlefold. Addressing him as 'My dear Barling', he wishes him continued good health, hoping that he will 'see the successful termination of the War'.

Barling died on the day that Chamberlain wrote this letter.
