/2 Typescript poem entitled Gifts of the Greeks by 'Owlet', undated.

/3 Letter from A. W. W. Dale to Oliver Lodge, written from University College, Liverpool, dated 25 March 1900. In response to a letter from Lodge 'referring partly to the examinations, partly to the general order of the universe', Dale writes that he is happy to hear Lodge's suggestions. He includes a poem about the arts and science.

/4 Letter from A. W. W. Dale to Oliver Lodge, written from University College, Liverpool, dated 3 June 1900. Dale discusses potential candidates (including Whetham, Wilson, Wilberforce, Townsend and Rutherford) for an unspecified position at Liverpool. He has read Lodge's 'synthetic' paper and comments: 'But the physical difficulties of prayer have never come home to me as closely as the moral difficulties of praying'.

/5 Letter from A. W. W. Dale to Oliver Lodge, written from University College, Liverpool, dated 29 April 1901. Dale writes that Liverpool is moving towards university status and asks whether students prefer London degrees to degrees from new universities. He enquires whether the men who visited America wrote a report.

/6 Letter from A. W. W. Dale to Oliver Lodge, written from the University of Liverpool, dated 9 October 1904. Dale writes that Lodge's address made an impact on everyone present: 'I doubt whether anything spoken on the subject of religion has had so great an effect during the four years that I have known this place and this people'.

/7 Letter from A. W. W. Dale to Oliver Lodge, written from the University of Liverpool, dated 16 May 1905. Dale discusses proposed evening degree courses, and points out that Lodge should have expressed his objections before the Court committed itself to a definite line of action.

/8 Letter from A. W. W. Dale to Oliver Lodge, written from 10 Ullet Road, Liverpool, dated 30 December 1906. Dale comments on Lodge's 'First Principles' draft.

/9 Letter from A. W. W. Dale to Oliver Lodge, written from the University of Liverpool, dated 1 January 1907. Dale discusses the necessity of a moral law, which gives man a reason to do 'right' and refrain from doing 'wrong'.

/10 Letter from A. W. W. Dale to Oliver Lodge, written from the University of Liverpool, dated 28 February 1907. Dale sends thanks for Lodge's writings and promises a copy of his History in return.
