/2 Copy of letter from Oliver Lodge to A. Vibert Douglas, dated 13 October 1924. Lodge discusses Silberstein's estimate of R, and De Sitter's idea 'that a spurious Doppler Effect can be given by mere distance'. He is interested in the work of young mathematical physicists though it differs from 'the old school of dynamics'. He writes: 'Meanwhile my business is to cling to the Ether as a sheet-anchor, and to urge the younger men to try to work out the dynamics of the Ether'.
