He reminisces about a European trip made with Bradley some years ago; he is afraid he did not behave very well. He is working on the structure of the atom but feels left behind by younger physicists. He is not sure he should have taken the job at Birmingham where his research was 'hampered' by administrative duties. He fears his 'Psychical heresy' may stand in the way of his having the opportunity to give Gifford Lectures. He writes about his home life and recent activities including going to Paris, Sheffield and Cambridge. He shares news of old friends and hopes to see Bradley again.
