TitleNotes for Oliver Lodge written by J. Arthur Hill
Extent1 item
Datec 1911
Description5 pages reflecting Lodge's interest in spiritualism and psychic research these papers are titled 'Notes for Sir Oliver Lodge's private information' and contain a brief list of psychics and an account of an experience with a medium named Watson. The first two pages consist of the names of medium's and sitter's and a brief assessment and description of some of them. They are primarily based in Halifax and the names noted with pseudonyms are: Miss MacDonald (Miss McCreadie), Watson (Aaron Wilkinson), Frank Knight (W.E. Jenkinson), Joseph Oddy (J.W. Nicholl), Miss Napier (Miss Marriott). The final three pages of the notes contain the report of a sitting with the medium Watson and how he contacted the dead mother of their mutual acquaintance, 'Knight'. The notes are clearly written by someone close to Lodge since they have a personal tone, presumably by John Arthur Hill (1872-1951) author of the book in which these notes were found and for whom Oliver Lodge wrote the introduction.
