| Description | Letter written from 21 Waverley Road, Liverpool dated 8 February and addressed 'My dear Uncle Robert'. Lodge writes that Uncle Frank is unable to answer his questions and Uncle Sam will not provide any information for use in experiments, as he believes 'that these things are necessarily absurd and impossible'. Lodge admits that he felt the same three months ago but has been convinced by his research and experiences. He tells Robert not to be upset by Sam's response, writing: 'It needs experience & personal examination to satisfy most persons. He has had none'. He notes that trivial details are the best way to prove the authenticity of the spiritual communications because they could not be discovered by ordinary means.
There is an additional page which does not follow on from the last. It appears to come from an earlier letter, in which Lodge plans to ask his Uncles to verify information given by a medium. |
