| Administrative History | The Building Blocks programme was established in 1983 to provide resources to challenge institutional racism in under-fives teaching, to address and provide information about both overt racism and unconscious bias, particularly in relation to the effect of this on young children, and to celebrate Britain's multiculturalism.
As well as providing resources, the programme undertook partnership work with teacher training colleges, primary schools, and other Save the Children projects.
In 1987, the the programme shifted focus to promote a holistic early years education programme focused on tackling inequality.
The Building Blocks programme was ended in 1994, and the work continued by the newly opened Equality Learning Centre. The Equality Learning Centre changed its name to the Save the Children: Centre for Young Children's Rights in 1998. |
