Administrative HistoryNote: the 'Administrative History' sections are taken from the SCF Archives Guide compiled by SCF archivist Rodney Breen, c 1995]; some information also taken from Wikipedia, sourced 2015

'Allocations' in the background history notes refer to amounts of funding as listed in the Annual Reports. Some amounts are listed as 'sundry' and there is not always a clear distinction between sponsorships and other types of aid. The amounts may refer to grants made by SCF to other organisations or individuals to aid their work, or to SCF-funded and run projects. Very often this will be emergency aid. It may also involve sponsorships and gifts in aid. The dates refer to the date in which the relevant Annual Report was published. Thus the first donation to China is given as 1921, because it was published in the Annual Report 1920-21: in fact the donation was made in 1920. Where allocations are known to have been made in 1919, they are usually entered as 1919. Details of allocations are often extremely sparse, some items are not listed, and because the format of annual reports changes quite dramatically at times it is not always possible to trace a clear pattern of continuity in the work of a particular country. Aid, especially in the pre-war period, was often distributed via the UISE / IUCW.
