Argentina has been an independent country since the 19th century. In 1976 a military junta ruled the country, lasting until 1983, when the loss of the Falklands War caused the return of democratic government.

SCF made two small grants to Argentina: £103 (relief work) in 1965/66 and £1,520 (£116 relief and £1,404 gifts in kind) in 1966/1967. It is unclear now what purpose this aid was for.
