Bhutan has had an arrangement with the British government until 1949, and the Indian government after that date, to follow advice given regarding external relations, in return for which the other country undertakes not to intervene in the internal affairs of Bhutan.
SCF work in Bhutan began at the beginning of 1988 in Pema Gatshel. Work included providing Basic Health Units in villages, supported by voluntary village health workers. There were also training courses for local health workers, support for education and community work. |
