SCF/OP/4/GHA/24-32 relate to the closure of the Ghana office, including transitional plans, budgeting, staff management, asset disposal, and documentation. |
| Administrative History | Allocations, 1967, 1984, 1986-93. Programme spending in 1993/94, 1994/95.
The Gold Coast colony and the Togo Trusteeship (former German territory transferred to the British) were united in the new dominion of Ghana in 1957 and the country became a republic in 1960.
A grant of £350 was made to Ghana in 1967. The purpose is not known. There was a small grant in 1984 and again in 1986 and 1987. In 1988 a larger grant was given for an urban primary health care programme. Grants were continued in 989 and 1990, when the first Save the Children (SCF) field office was opened. In 1991 the Fund was supporting short-term work with refugees in Accra, strengthening health and social welfare delivery services, developing the transport system, and supporting training activities.
As part of the Global Programme Scoping Project, the Ghana office was identified for closure, and following a transitional period, the office was closed in 2004. |
