Save the Children (SCF) has been working in Mongolia since 1994. Its long-term development programme includes support for vulnerable children for example street children, poverty alleviation, the development of early childhood education, and training for Mongolian School Social Workers. Between 1999-2002, severe winter weather conditions (known as dzud) caused food shortages in Mongolia. SCF launched an emergency response focused on Khovd and Bayankhongor provinces.
