In 1970 SCF sent funds through the British Ambassador in Lima, British Red Cross Society and Disasters Emergency Committee for earthquake relief in Peru. From 1971-1975 SCF supported the International Union for Child Welfare's Community Action Pilot Project for Agricultural and Technical Training at Huaraz.

In 1980 SCF established a programme in Peru. During the 1980s SCF set up a number of health care projects including the Tambo-Ene River Primary Health Care project; Primary Health Care River Service for the Amerindians of the Ashaninka tribe; Andean Health project; Villa El Salvador project; River Project; and Community Health Centre in Las Flores. In the late 1980s SCF established projects relating to street children in Lima, children in inner city slums, Jungle Committee project, and Cusco Department Committee Development project. By 1993 SCF's work had expanded to include projects relating to health and human rights education in schools, support for rural development and income-generation, and AIDs education.

In 2001 a relief and rehabilitation project was undertaken by SCF-UK, SCF Canada and SCF Sweden following the earthquake of 23 June.
