The Kingdom of Eswatini was known as Swaziland until 2006.
SCF gave a grant to Swaziland in 1962 to start a school feeding programme. With further grants the programme expanded to become a nationwide scheme which continued into the 1990s. In 1965 SCF sent a doctor to work in Hlatikulu and the surrounding villages. A mobile clinic was set up in 1966 and a nursery school was established near Hlatikulu Hospital. SCF also set up a sponsorship programme in the country. In 1979, Swaziland was chosen as one of the countries in which to pilot SCF's STOP Polio campaign. From 1979 SCF helped to implement the Expanded Programme of Immunisation (EPI) in the country. SCF-UK worked alongside Save the Children Fund Swaziland on projects relating to social welfare, workshops, day-care and fundraising. |
