| Administrative History | SCF started work in Tajikistan in 1994, providing food, clothing and shelter to children affected by the civil war which broke out in 1992 after the country gained independence following the dissolution of the Soviet Union, and lasted until 1997. SCF began a long-term development project in Khatlon province, providing assistance to female-headed households and developing a teacher training project. SCF also began projects to protect street children in the country's capital, Dushanbe. |
