During the 1920s SCF sent aid to assist Russian and Armenian refugees in Turkey. In 1929, SCF made a grant to Constantinople for milk centres for children of various nationalities including Armenians, Greeks, Russians, and Turks.
In 1940 aid was given via the Anglo-Turkish Relief Fund following the January 1940 earthquake. In 1966 SCF gave assistance to victims of the earthquake in the Province of Mus through the Turkish Child Welfare Association. SCF continued to provide earthquake relief in Turkey throughout the 1970s. SCF worked with the Turkish Society for the Protection of Children [TCEK] on a post-earthquake reconstruction programme.
In the late 1980s and early 1990s SCF provided support for Iraqi Kurdish refugees in Turkey, including at Princiken refugee camp. |
