| Administrative History | Save the Children Fund (SCF) established an infant welfare clinic in Dubai in April 1970; Mary Hawkins, OBE, was the senior nursing sister in charge until April 1972. SCF received financial support from the Dubai Municipal Council and the Trucial States Women's Society for its work in the country. SCF opened a number of clinics and a feeding station in the United Arab Emirates. From 1972 the programme in Oman was run separately. The programme closed in 1974 as the country's newly established Department of Health took responsibility for child welfare. |
