| Administrative History | In 1979 the Health Department of Vanuatu asked Save the Children Fund (SCF) to provide vaccines and cold chain equipment for the Expanded Programme on Immunization (EPI) in the country. In 1982 SCF appointed a Technical Officer to help with implementation of the EPI and training of local staff. In 1984 funding for expansion of the programme to include maternal and child health and nutrition was granted by the Australian Development Assistance Bureau through its BINGO (Bilateral/NGO Co-operation) scheme. SCF Australia began administering the country programme in January 1984, with a complete handover in April 1984. |
