| Administrative History | Save the Children Fund (SCF) began work in the West Bank and Gaza Strip in the mid-1980s, focusing on child development and education. SCF also supported health projects: SCF worked with Bethlehem University to develop a Physiotherapy degree course in order to improve services for people with disabilities; SCF supported the training of nurses; and assisted community based rehabilitation of children with disabilities. In 1995 SCF-UK and SCF-US established a water resource development and sanitation project in the West Bank. The two organisations also established the Group Guaranteed Lending and Savings programme to support women's income generating activitities. |
