DescriptionContains correspondence, articles, memoranda, speeches, press cuttings and printed items relating to Save the Children Fund (SCF) and child welfare; correspondence and research materials relating to Fuller's proposed biography of SCF's first Chair Lord Weardale; and copies of Fuller's 'Biographical Sketch' of Lord Weardale published in 1923. Most of the material dates from the 1920s-1950s but the collection also includes a photograph of Lord Weardale (c 1860s) and a letter dated 1912.
ArrangementThe papers were divided into five sections numbered i-v which were sub-divided into files; this arrangement has been maintained.

Administrative HistoryEdward Fuller (c 1889-1958) was a professional journalist with a long association with Save the Children Fund (SCF). He was editor of SCF's periodical (The Record of the Save the Children Fund, later The World's Children) from its foundation in 1920. He retired from the position of Public Relations Officer in 1954 but continued as general editor of The World's Children until his death in 1958. In 1956 he was given the title 'Editor and Archivist' by the SCF Council. As well as articles in The World's Children, his published works include a 'Biographical Sketch of Lord Weardale' (a brief biography of the first Chair of SCF, published in 1923), 'The International Year Book of Child Care and Protection' (a survey of child welfare around the world published 1924), 'The White Flame' (a biography of Eglantyne Jebb co-written with Dorothy Buxton and published in 1931); and 'The Right of the Child' (a history of SCF published in 1951).
