Inscribed on fly leaf 'Sam Hellier [undeciphered]. Ano Salutis 1719-20'.
Inscribed on second leaf, and scratched out 'S. Hellier [undeciphered] His book began to learn to play on ye spinnet, Dec 12 1719.'
The binding is upside down and back to front.
Hand ruled 5 stave manuscript paper. Leather binding with two brass clasps. Inscribed on the (binding's) front cover 'Basso continuo'.
The 'S. Hellier' referred to in these last two inscriptions is presumably Sir Samuel's father.
