DescriptionLeather title piece 'Ellen Bradney, 1769'.
Assuming the title piece to be on the front cover, folios [1-4] (unnumbered) are written the right way up; folios [5-48] (also unnumbered) are written upside down and starting at folio [48]. For the purposes of this description the first four folios are described and then the book has been described from folio [48] back to folio [5].
In an immature hand with many errors.
The following items are in a separate, more professional hand:
ff. [1r] Oh dear! what can the matter be [song]
ff. [1v-2r] Gavot, C major with fingering.
ff. [2v-3r] My heart's my own, my will is free [song] with fingering.
ff. [3v-4] Still in hopes to get the better of my stubborn flame I try [song] with fingering.
'Still in hopes...' occupies two systems of f. [4v]. The remaining two systems of that folio are the opposite way up and form the conclusion of the final item of this list, 'The White Cockade'. The remaining items appear to be largely in one hand with some variations noted below as possible separate hands.
