| Description | Like number SH/653 this composite manuscript contains military band arrangements by Hermann Eckersberg and was presumably the composer's own conducting score. The first two items are numbers six and seven (looks like one but top edge has been trimmed by the binder). They presumably came later in compilation but were transferred at the point of binding. The present item number five in the manuscript is followed by an item originally numbered eight but altered to six. One volume containing the following.

Manuscript. pp. 1-79 At a later stage 'dedicated to Colnol Chatterton KH 4 r[oyal] I[rish] Dragoon Guards.' has been added to the title. This extraordinary piece prefigures Chaikovskii's 1812 overture. The French camp, night and morning (with church clock chiming) are succeeded by reveille and descriptions of the warring parties: the French (Marseillaise' of course) the British Grenadiers, the Prussian army, the cavalry, the Highland Brigade and - of course - the Irish Brigade (as befits a bandmaster of the Royal Dragoon Guards). The order to fire is given, the cannons sound and battle ensues. The French army are put to flight and a grand victory march brings the whole extravaganza to a fitting conclusion. f.
