Inscribed on title-page: 'S. Hellier, 1771'. The following note is printed before the imprint: 'The several german Regiments these pieces belong'd to never intended they shou'd appear in print, but one of the princi-/pal Musicians, quitting the Service, who had Copys of the books belonging to different Bands, thought it wrong such Ex-/cellent Music shou'd remain in Obscurity. For the delight and Amusement of Loevers of Martial Music and good Harmony he has made them Public. To render them useful to small Concerts he has also adapted them to be perform'd with Two German Flutes instead of Horns, Two Violins with or without Hoboys etc'.
Part is labelled: 'Oboe e Violino primo' but on the wrapper is written in Hellier's hand: 'Clarinet, Hautboy or Violin/ Primo (66 [erased and replaced by] 20)'.
