Date27 June 1823
DescriptionLetter written from Wolverhampton. She fears that the journey to Blackpool will be very costly; she gives details of the fares by coach and post chaise. Mother has delayed her visit to Harrogate in order to meet her daughter, so Elizabeth asks John to write immediately to say what he thinks. The doctor advises travel by post chaise for Thomas's sake. They all have sore eyes now. She is too busy to write a lengthy letter. After closing the letter she lists travelling costs in more detail, sends news from Mr Crane, and again urges John to reply immediately. There is a thunderstorm threatening.
