She hopes that her mother feels better for her recent trip and that her father did not suffer in her absence. John Shaw has been to Holland. News of Mrs W and Mrs Wood. Petre from Rochdale is visiting the Shaws. Sarah is apparently looking well in her pregnancy. Thomas is moving house. She talks of going to the baths at Leamington Spa. She has been out for rides in a gig; perhaps her mother can advise her of other cures for her pains. Mrs Crane has given birth to a boy. Elizabeth is concerned about her baby Richard's health. The children at school are well. Good servants are still difficult to obtain. She enquires after her father and her uncle.
