TitleLetter from Elizabeth Shaw to her mother, E. Wilkinson at Colne
Extent1 item
Date1 July 1830
DescriptionLetter written from Wolverhampton. Mr Shaw cannot afford to let Elizabeth go to Colne. The latter laments the national economic situation. George Battmoor has died. Many people are in financial difficulties at present; she is thankful that they themselves can manage. She enquires after Mrs and Miss Saga, and sends news of the Scales. Sarah should stay and see the annual fair, although she seems anxious to be home; Elizabeth will miss her company. Perhaps Thomas could fetch her from Manchester. Elizabeth asks her mother to come and see her in Wolverhampton instead of going to a watering place.
