DescriptionThe Leveller described itself as 'an independent monthly socialist magazine produced by the Leveller Collective', featuring 'news/theory/debate/interviews/culture/struggle/agitprop'. It was anti-establishment, generally pro-feminist and had links to movements such as Rock Against Racism and the Race Today collective. The pilot issue from 1976, included in the Centre, included an article by the Birmingham-based writer David Edgar, while an issue from 1977 featured an article by Centre member Bill Schwarz on the Italian Marxist Antonio Gramsci, a key influence on the Centre.
