Membership of the committee comprised the Principal, Oliver Lodge, as chair; the Vice-Principal, Robert Heath; Professor Ashley, Professor Bridge, Professor Carlier; Professor Dixon, Professor Poynting, and Professor Windle
The committee met twice. At its first meeting, in December 1903, members agreed the classification of 'Class A University Lecturers', 'Class B Lecturers' and 'Class III Assistant Lecturers', and on the terms of conferral of the titles of 'Reader' and 'Assistant Professor'. These minutes give the names of those members of staff designated as 'Class A', 'Class B' and 'Assistant Lecturers'
Minutes of the second meeting of the committee, held in February 1904, approve the classification scheme for grades of staff, and recommend that Council approve salaries attached to individual posts. These minutes include a list of names and salary figures for some staff in each of the Faculties, with the exception of staff in Engineering, and list the names of staff designated as University Lecturers, Lecturers, Assistant Lecturers/Demonstrators |
