| Description | Set of Attendance Books which record meetings of Council committees, from the establishment of the University in 1900 until 1989. These volumes were used to record meetings of a number of committees during the early twentieth century, though between 1915 and 1918 they seem to have primarily recorded meetings of the Finance and Estates Committee, as well as some special committees appointed by Council to discuss specific points. There is an increase in the number of committees listed after end of the First World War, and this pattern continues until the early 1960s, when the volumes again record meetings of only the main committees of Council: Finance and General Purposes Committee, Planning and Priorities Committee, and of the Halls of Residence Committee and Wages and Establishment Committee, and later in the 1960s only the Finance and General Purposes Committee The Attendance Books had also been used to record attendance at meetings of the Court of Governors since the 1940s, and from the 1970s onwards this is the sole purpose of the volumes.
