| Description | Minutes of University of Birmingham Planning and Priorities committee. There is a complete set of minutes for the period from 1 March 1955 to 29 January 1987.
The Planning and Priorities committee was a committee of University Council, and was responsible for making recommendations on the provision of new buildings, the acquisition and development of sites, and the use and development of existing buildings.
The minutes are an important source of information about the expansion of the Edgbaston campus and wider University estate, particularly during the intense period of construction during the 1960s but during the entire period that the minutes cover. They also provide useful information about the use of buildings by different academic and administrative departments, the changing pressures of capacity that buildings and the campus in general faced, and the development of different types of student residential accommodation over the period to meet changing demand. |
