DescriptionMinute books contain printed copies of annual reports and statements of the Union for most academic sessions. These were presented at Annual business meetings. The minutes also contain information about activities of the Union Athletic Club, performances organised by the dramatic sub-committee, and information about papers given at meetings. Regular reports of other sub-committees are also recorded, and the names of staff and students attending meetings are often given. Some programmes for dramatic performances and promotional literature about other social activities have been pasted into the volumes

A letter from the honorary secretaries of the Mason College Union, dated 8 December 1884 is inserted in the volume. It is addressed to an unidentified recipient and regards the election of the recipient as an honorary member of an unidentified society

Administrative HistoryMason College Union was the student association of Mason Science College, and was also the predecessor organisation of the University of Birmingham Guild of Students. Mason College Union committee became the Birmingham University Union committee in 1900, and continued to organise social events for the first few years of the twentieth century.
