| Description | This section contains copies of occasional reports produced by the Guild of Students. The majority date from the late 1960s and early 1970s. Of these, two relate to the student unrest of 1968 over the issue of student representation on University committees, which resulted in increased student involvement in University governance. There are also reports on the reorganisation of the students Carnival in 1966 and a report of an enquiry which recommended changes to the Freshmen's Conference, dated 1967. There are papers relating to the 'Teach In' held in 1969 to discuss University reform, and to a survey on student accommodation undertaken jointly by the Guild and the University administration published in 1971. Two other reports in the section are earlier in date. These consist of an enquiry into the lecture system and teaching methods in place at the University in 1936, and a 1944 report into the potential post-war expansion of student sports facilities at the University. There is also a much later report, consisting of a copy of the Student Voice Report 2018 which summarises the current Birmingham student experience and makes recommendations for improvement |
