| Description | Magazine of Mason College, to which both students and staff contributed, in the same way that Mason College Union involved staff in its social and cultural activities. The first issue was produced in 1883 and was edited by students of Mason College. It was published on a monthly basis during term time and was intended to provide 'opportunities of interchange of communications for students and friends of the college outside the environment of Mason College Union meetings. In addition to editorial items and general articles on science, philosophy, the arts, and travel, the magazine also contains reports on Mason College Union meetings, debates, and social events; news about research and teaching in college departments; information about the Mason College library; letters and poetry written by students; articles about individual students and members of staff, some including photographs; news about student clubs and societies; reports of sports matches; as well as lists of degree results during the 1880s. Mason College Magazine changed its name to University of Birmingham Magazine after the June 1900 issue. Holdings of this publication are listed at UB/GUILD/F/2
