| Description | Copies of publication that was essentially a continuation of Mason College Magazine, with the name changed following the establishment of the University of Birmingham in 1900, and the editorial board taking over responsibility for printing and advertising with the support of the Students' Representative Council. The magazine follows a similar format to that of Mason College Magazine. It was published monthly during term time, and contains news about the arrival and departure of University staff; articles about individual students and examination achievements; occasional biographical articles about staff and students, including obituaries; news about research and teaching in University departments; reports of Birmingham University Union and Guild of Undergraduates meetings; news about student clubs and societies; correspondence and poetry written by students; reports of sports matches; lists of examination results; the University Calendar; and details of gifts to the University. Issues for 1900 and 1901 also contain articles about the management of the University and about reform of the students union including details about the work of the Students Representative Council. There is also an account of the first degree ceremony on 6 July 1901. Issues for 1902 contain details about proposed new buildings on the new University site at Edgbaston including a description of some of the rooms in the new complex, together with a plan showing the layout. Most issues also contain photographs of staff and students, including group photographs of members of student committees and sports teams. The last issue of the University of Birmingham Magazine was in June 1903 and the editorial for this issue discusses the resignation of the Students' Representative Council and therefore the absence of a body to appoint an editorial board for the student magazine. It suggests that the magazine might be run independently, if it is to continue.
