DescriptionThe photographs in this section were probably created at the request of the Estates department to document the large number of construction projects undertaken on the Edgbaston campus and the Vale site from the mid 1950s to the late 1960s. They were collected into four albums, sorted chronologically by date of each building's construction. Supporting documents are inserted in the first two volumes. There were a number of blank pages at the end of the fourth and final volume which suggests that there were plans to continue documenting new buildings on the campus after 1969. The albums have been broken down to enable better storage of the photographs. Photographs have been catalogued in the order they were pasted into sheets within the albums. Captions on the original sheets suggest that some photographs are now missing from the original sequence. Information about the buildings shown in each album is given at file level. Names of buildings and dates have been supplied from the original captions where they survive.

Most of the photographs were probably taken by university photographers, but there are a small number of photographs that can be identified as having been taken by external photographers
