DescriptionThe teaching papers of Stuart Hall (1932-2014) are related to his work at the Centre for Contemporary Cultural Studies (CCCS) as both a lecturer and director as well as Hall’s work as the Professor of Sociology at Open University (1979-1997). Included in Hall teaching papers are also his international lectures and seminars which he presented around the world including in Europe and the Caribbean. Material within these series include research papers and notes, seminar handouts and various teaching materials which Hall both produced and contributed to within the centre. Also included are the Centre’s student and staff works and published material spanning a variety of themes such as Media, Education and Culture.

The Open University papers are also varied containing course unit packs for students of Sociology, drafts and notes of essays and articles as well as Open University textbooks, spanning over 15 years of Hall’s time at the University. Finally, the international papers present the draft lectures which Hall presented in several countries outside of Britain including Italy and Jamaica.
