DescriptionThanks them for their Christmas card, sent from the British Embassy in Washington. He and his wife went to London for a poetry reading at the Aeolian Hall, arranged by the Sitwells and the Marchioness of Crewe. Others present included: Osbert and Edith Sitwell, Walter de la Mare, Gibson, Vita Sackville-West, H D, Arthur Waley, W J Turner, John Masefield and T S Eliot. Laurence Binyon was to have been present but was ill and died a few days later. The poetry reading; many of the participants did not read their work well. The Queen and the princesses were present. He later attended a dinner party, a reception at the Marquis of Crewe's and a tea party at Edith Sitwell's club. Saw A month in the country, with Valerie Taylor. Saw war damages in the West End and especially in the East End
