DescriptionWritten from Oxford, dated 14 January. Murray [1837-1915, lexicographer] writes that he has not forgotten his friends but is working tirelessly on the dictionary with Bradley: 'It is like the work of a machine & not of human beings struggling with some of the most difficult problems of human history [...]'. He describes Hilda's job as Lecturer in Germanic Philology at Royal Holloway College. He adds that Wilfred is at the Cape with Mr Schreiner and Ethelwyn will be married there in the autumn. He complains of the 'lamentable position' of the Empire due to Chamberlain and Milner. He has been appointed Romanes Lecturer for the year. With envelope.
