| Description | Written from 1 Montague Road, Edgbaston, Birmingham, dated 15 July. Arber tells Lord Coleridge [Bernard John Seymour, 1851-1927, judge and 2nd Baron Coleridge] that his reprint of Captain John Smith's Works 1608-31 is now out in small paper. He writes that he is discontinuing the paper covers and offers alternative options. In a postscript he comments: 'This printing effort is quite inadequately supported. It sometimes seems to me that literary culture is dying out. The day of great private collectors is gone: there are no books to be had'. |
