TitleLetter from Prince Dolgorukov to Count Benckendorff
Extent1 item
Date1915
DescriptionLetter dated October 8 1915 written from the general head quarters of the Imperial army. Dolgorukov writes that the Tsarevich greatly enjoys his life at the headquarters and that the Russian forces near Pinsk have had great success. Dolgurokov tells his stepfather in the strictest confidence of the letter Fredericks has received from his old friend, the German Minister of the Court , Count Eulenburg. Eulenburg writes that the German Emperor's character has greatly changed and that he declared war on Russia only because of Russian mobilisation and that if the Tsar had made the slightest concession much would have changed. The Tsar apparently gave no reaction on reading this letter and Fredericks is afraid to reply to it for fear that it may reach the German press.
