Description
Letter dated June 15 1915 written from the headquarters of the army. Dolgorukov writes of a breakfast held at Stavka for 56 people on the occasion of the birthday of the Grand Duchess Maria Nikolaevna, it was attended by ministers and staff officers. He reports that the mood is grim with complaints of shortages of rifles and shells which have caused the Russian retreat in Gallicia (or Galicia). Savonov thinks the enemy intends to advance into Bessarabia in order to hand it over to Romania, but the priority for the Russians right now is to hold onto Warsaw.
