The series includes a complete set of annual reports and reviews, 1931-2016, and an almost complete set of national handbooks and accommodation guides, 1931-2011, which provide important financial and organisational information about the YHA, their work, and their hostel network.
Other YHA publications include national songbooks, produced for sale to hostellers to allow for sing-songs in hostels, YHA hostel network maps, hostel listings, business plans, and a large collections of publicity material promoting all aspects of YHA's work, including leaflets, brochures, newsletters, and guides.
There is a large series of YHA magazines, journals and newsletters which provide important updates and information about YHA's work and activities, as well as about hostelling, outdoor recreation, and related interest topics such as countryside management. This includes editions of YHA's official magazine, originally 'The Rucksack', later 'The Youth Hosteller'.
Publications not published by the YHA relate to the YHA and YHA's work. This includes published memoirs relating to individuals' hostelling activities and histories of the YHA, and publications concerning long distance walking routes, walking trail guides, and national parks.
