Activity | Zwemer served as a missionary in Arabia, 1890-1912, and in Egypt, 1913-1929. He acted as a field committee member for the survey of 'Christian Literature for Moslems' in Egypt, Egyptian Sudan, Abyssinia and the Hedjaz and as organiser and Chairman for the 1st and 2nd General Missionary Conferences on Islam, Cairo and Lucknow, circa 1921-1922. He wrote and published extensively on Mohammedanism and Moslems throughout his career. He married Amy E. Wilkes [d 1937], in 1895, and had four children. He married his second wife, Margaret Clarke [d 1950], in 1940. |
